Electric Vehicle Charging Stations
Keeping America Green
Charging Stations
In June 2016, the City of Red Lodge installed four publicly available electric vehicle charging stations. Working in conjunction with Yellowstone Teton Clean Cities (YTCC) of Jackson, WY and Tesla Motors, the City received rebates for the chargers to be installed at no cost. The chargers bring in new visitors to Red Lodge and the Beartooth Pass, providing essential infrastructure for electric vehicle owners. Every year, the stations help fuel an average of 10,000 miles for electric and plug-in hybrid vehicle owners - residents and visitors alike. This saves the same amount of CO2 that 114 acres of U.S. forests sequester annually.
There are two Tesla Destination Chargers and two Universal Clipper Creek Chargers that sit adjacent to the Public Restroom at 305 N Oakes Ave. All four are Level 2 stations. They are free and available to use 24/7, and there is a donation box attached in order to help pay for operations and maintenance of the stations. For assistance, please call City Hall at (406) 446-1606.
The City providing these stations will have a positive impact on the community as more individuals purchase electric vehicles. “This is a wonderful resource for Red Lodge to have available for visitors wanting to recharge their electric cars and their selves before heading over the Beartooth Highway. By parking their car at the depot, visitors have an easy walk to tour our eclectic galleries, fantastic eateries and unique boutiques,” Sherry Weamer, Director, Red Lodge Area Chamber of Commerce.
The public-use stations are not the only electric vehicle chargers in town. The Yodeler Motel, located at 601 Broadway Ave S, has 3 Tesla Destination Chargers and 1 Universal Clipper Creek Charger that is available as an amenity for their guests. To read more, click here.
