I'm so happy to see your recommendations since I just made reservations at Gallagher's for us! We will indeed visit the places you mention and neither my husband nor I have ever met a stranger so we will have no trouble getting to know the locals....thanks again for your reply.

Everyone was very nice, the scenery was absolutely beautiful and your town is one of a kind! We stayed at Perry's RV park which was very clean with places along the river, and the owner was the best! We have been looking for our retirement property out west and your area is now at the top of our list. Hope to see you in the near future! Thank you!

Visiting Red Lodge : Hot Head at the Alpine Lodge

    Author: psscuba
Subject: Hot Head at the Alpine Lodge
Posted: Jul 21 2010 at 8:53pm

I want to give anyone who is considering visiting Red Lodge a heads up about The Alpine Lodge. On 07/15/10 me and a buddy of mine arrived at the Alpine Lodge with reservations for four nights, I thought. While trying to check in I was told there was no reservations in my name, I learned the next day that my reservations were mistakenly made for the Alpine Hotel in Cooke City, about sixty miles South of Red Lodge. The women at the counter offerd us a cabin that had come available, do to a last minute cancellation, out of despiration we said we would take it. After seeing the cabin we decided to start searching for something else, preferably with indoor plumbing. The town was sold out due to the motorcycle rally but we did find an apartment we could rent for $200.00 per night, we said we would take it. That was when the trouble started. The owner, Larry and his wife were not happy that we did not want the cabin and they told us they would charge us for one night, even though we had only been there for about two hours and had not even sat on the beds. When I tried to tell the owner that I thought I had reservations for a room he called me a lier and told me I was trying to scam them for a lower room rate. At this point my buddy opened his big mouth and said "We don't have to take this, you can kiss my a--. Dumb thing to say, I know. Well Larry went balistic, told us to leave the property and when my buddy asked for his credit card receipt, Larry the hot head grabbed him and shoved him, then he proceded to follow us out to our motorcycle's yelling at us the whole time to get off his property. Needless to say we left, and I hope to never see Larry the hot head again! Now I know my buddy should have just kept his mouth closed, but all we were trying to do was check out and move on. We caused them no finacial harm, they charged us for a nights stay plus my bet is they had no problem renting the cabin to someone else. And for someone in the hospitality business to treat a customer like that is unbelievable. The rest of our stay in Red Lodge was great so I would recommend visting Red Lodge to anyone, but avoid staying at the Alpine Lodge.

Edited by psscuba - Jul 22 2010 at 10:27am
