8.4 or 4.2 Mile Race
The Beartooth Run began in 1968 with a small group of friends and continues today as one of the oldest, most challenging races in Montana. The course winds up the switchbacks of the Beartooth Pass through alpine, mountain scenery, starting at an elevation of nearly 7,000 feet and finishing at the scenic outlook of Vista Point at more than 9,200 feet. The highway, which has been designated a National Scenic Byway and described by Charles Kuralt as "the most beautiful roadway in America," serves as a stunning backdrop for this one-of-a-kind race.
